Description Les Arômes de Pavie 2020 is a magnificent second wine, on a par with many of Saint Emilion’s crus classés. It was rated 95-96 by James Suckling. To the eye, the colour is purple with violet highlights On the nose, black fruits emerge, blackcurrant, cherry, followed by woody and vanilla notes On the palate, the attack is straightforward, well-fruited, combined with good length and freshness. The wine is long and full, with powerful tannins. A magnificent Saint Emilion, second wine of Château Pavie 1er Grand Cru Classé which impressed us with its power and balance. The blend for the 2020 vintage is 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc. Maturing for the 2020 vintage was 16 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which were new and 30% one-wine. The 12bouteilles advice : This is a bottle that will need to be cellared for a few years, the wine needs it. If you get the urge to taste it, decant the bottle at least 3 hours beforehand, serve the wine chilled at around 18°c. It goes perfectly with red meats and cheeses.
